Party Arty, You Will Be Missed

December 5, 2008

I’ve just learned that underground MC, Party Arty, has passed away due to health complications.  I don’t have any of the real facts but man, this hits hard.  We all know he helped solidify that real Hip Hop with his features on Showbiz and A.G. albums and D.I.T.C.

I had the chance to actually meet the dude in Mannheim, Germany about 5 years ago.  I even got to spit in front of him and recieved a dap from him as well.  Dude was literally ruff, rugged, and raw!  I’ve never seen the energy this dude emitted on stage.  I remember after his show he was selling his GHetto Dwella albums and it seemed like everyone was copping that shit based on his live show.  You will be missed homie!

OBAMA!BYE BYE BUSH!

November 5, 2008

Barack Obama has done it.  No matter how many blogs are written about this day in history, I am going to throw in my 5 dollars worth.

I have not written anything in this blog for a such a long time.WHY? I made a vow to myself that I wouldn’t until I knew who would be the next president of the United States.  A little weight is off of my back.  A little you might ask?

Mr President……I hope that the United States Of America can change for the better, no matter who throws you money or who gives you dirty looks.  I hope you are not intimidated into making decisions that will make this country look bad to our brothers and sisters abroad.  I hope you can look at poverty and do something about it.  I hope you can change the education system and let our children know that there is something far greater out there then worthless text books and selfish teachers.  I hope money will be spent on the community and their living needs, health needs, and social needs.Mr. President the people are watching, the people are hopefull.  Please don’t let us down.

Duck Down Signs….. a PUNK BAND!

September 12, 2008

In recent months, Duck Down Records has added new members to its family artists, obtaining album deals with B-Real of Cypress Hill, set to release “SMOKE N MIRRORS” on January 27th; group projects such as KRS-ONE & Buckshot, Sean Price, Guilty Simpson & Black Milk “Random Axe,” all lined up for albums in 2009, and the latest, the official signing of Ruste Juxx who is preparing to release his first solo album “Indestructible,” on October 28th.

However, in their most-recent effort to expand the overall fan-base, Duck Down has just signed the Punk Rock Group, “SPECIAL EDUCATION,” and has announced its sub-label, “DUCK DOWN ROCKS!!!” The group is comprised of lead vocalist, Johny Rambo, Guitarist/Vocalist, MonstaMan, Bass Player, GUITARDED, the Drummer, Unnamed, and back-up Guitarist, ‘Death to Cabs In New Jersey.’

Special Education is slated to release their first album “I RIDE THE SHORT BUS” on February 17th through Arts And Crafts Records/DUCK DOWN ROCKS!!!

Co-owner and CEO of Duck Down Records, Dru Ha, had this to say about Special Education:  “When Sean Price first told me about his cousin Johny Rambo’s group I was skeptical.  I mean everyone has a family member that can rhyme or sing, now do Punk Rock?  However, after seeing “Special Education” at the rehearsal studio a few weeks ago I was sold.  These guys are AWESOME, they kick ass (pause) and their performance energy was heightened to levels I haven’t seen in recent memory.   Equally as impressive is the band’s start up label,  (Arts and Crafts Records) that has really set up some great initial grass roots marketing.  Being that Buckshot and I don’t have much experience with Punk / Rock bands having Arts and Crafts on board made it a no brainer to sign the band and take a shot.  We immediately called our good friend and director  Rik Cordero to document a rehearsal session to soon share with the world.

The new video from “Special Education” for their song “So What I Wet The Bed” off I RIDE THE SHORT BUS will be available shortly. Stay tuned to WWW.DUCKDOWN.COM

POLL:Should a 9 year old be banned?

August 27, 2008

Let the kid play, I am going to keep on saying it.  Im sorry, this story has me vexed.  You know what, I am not sorry!  Parents across the US should be upset by this and the coach of the team that walked off the field should be ashamed of him/herself.  What kind of examples are we setting for our future.  If a child was doing amazing things inside of the classroom, he or she would not be punished for it,they would be applauded.  Now I don’t know if the child would be pushed to another grade or not, but I do know it would not happen over night.

SHould the kid play?I say yes!

what do you think?

9 Year old Kid banned from little league for pitching too fast.

August 26, 2008

I was just on yahoo.com and came across this story about a 9-year old kid who plays little league baseball in Connecticut.  He was banned from the league because he was throwing 40 MPH FAST BALLS!  In the story, the president of the league said that it was a learning league or some crap like that, and that the kid was too good.Boo to the fucking hoo, let the kid play.  Its not his fault he can throw a fast ball like that 40 MPH.  If another kid is scared, well, he or she just found out their scared of fast balls.  Sue the league parents.  Read the story below,LET THE KID PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP)—Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player— too good, it turns out.

The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.

Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho’s team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho’s coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.

But Vidro says he didn’t quit and the team refuses to disband. Players and parents held a protest at the league’s field on Saturday urging the league to let Jericho pitch.

“He’s never hurt any one,” Vidro said. “He’s on target all the time. How can you punish a kid for being too good?”

The controversy bothers Jericho, who says he misses pitching.

“I feel sad,” he said. “I feel like it’s all my fault nobody could play.”

Jericho’s coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league’s administrators.

Jericho instead joined a team sponsored by Will Power Fitness. The team was 8-0 and on its way to the playoffs when Jericho was banned from pitching.

“I think it’s discouraging when you’re telling a 9-year-old you’re too good at something,” said his mother, Nicole Scott. “The whole objective in life is to find something you’re good at and stick with it. I’d rather he spend all his time on the baseball field than idolizing someone standing on the street corner.”

League attorney Peter Noble says the only factor in banning Jericho from the mound is his pitches are just too fast.

“He is a very skilled player, a very hard thrower,” Noble said. “There are a lot of beginners. This is not a high-powered league. This is a developmental league whose main purpose is to promote the sport.”

Noble acknowledged that Jericho had not beaned any batters in the co-ed league of 8- to 10-year-olds, but say parents expressed safety concerns.

“Facing that kind of speed” is frightening for beginning players, Noble said.

League officials say they first told Vidro that the boy could not pitch after a game on Aug. 13. Jericho played second base the next game on Aug. 16. But when he took the mound Wednesday, the other team walked off and a forfeit was called.

League officials say Jericho’s mother became irate, threatening them and vowing to get the league shut down.

“I have never seen behavior of a parent like the behavior Jericho’s mother exhibited Wednesday night,” Noble said.

Scott denies threatening any one, but said she did call the police.

League officials suggested that Jericho play other positions, or pitch against older players or in a different league.

Local attorney John Williams was planning to meet with Jericho’s parents Monday to discuss legal options.

“You don’t have to be learned in the law to know in your heart that it’s wrong,” he said. “Now you have to be punished because you excel at something?”
